Discover SCUBA Diving

Our Discover SCUBA Diving Experience is perfect for those who do not have time to complete an entire PADI Open Water Course and for those who just wish to have a taste of diving.  The Discover Scuba Diving experience with us will include discussing some basic dive theory with your instructor, introduction to dive equipment and two boat dives. We will visit 2 different sites, the same dive sites that our certified divers enjoy so you'll know you are getting the best the Ningaloo Reef has to offer.

The D.S.D. course is suitable for everyone from 14 years old; those under 18 will need the written approval of a parent/guardian. You do need to have basic swimming ability.  

Diving medicals are not required to participate unless you have an indicator such as (but not limited to) asthma. A Padi DSD online Form will need to be completed at time of booking.

NOTE!! Advance bookings are essential for Discover Scuba Diving.  This includes the use of all the necessary equipment air fills, transfers from your in-town Exmouth accommodation and 2 boat dives.  We require a minimum of two participants to conduct our DSD program; in the unlikely event that we do not have a second person by 4:30pm the day before your scheduled date you will have two options: 1 – a full refund or 2 – you can pay an additional fee and have a private one-on-one session.  

CERTIFIED DIVERS We will need to view your Scuba Certification on the morning of the tour on pickup as you enter the Bus.

* Certified Divers must have a logged dive within the past 12 months to participate on our diving tours. If you do not have a recent dive, you'll need to complete a *Pool refresher with us before heading out on the ocean dives, or engage a private guide Booked in advance at an additional charge, for an 'On boat' *refresher 

* POOL Refresher sessions prior to the tour date, are a simple review of basic dive planning, equipment, theory and dive skills. These sessions usually take 1.5-3 hours and include time in the pool, so you will need to wear your bathers and bring a towel. We schedule our refreshers on demand at additional charges.

Discover SCUBA Diving

Surrounded by an abundance of fish life hidden amongst rocky ledges and intriguing dive sites, the Ningaloo Reef is located about 10nm west of Exmouth. Keep your eyes open during the  trip for ospreys, shearwaters, turtles, manta rays, dolphins, seasnakes, and during their migration, humpback whales.

We have a wide range of dive sites with a perfect depth of 12m and usually only gentle currents, the dive sites around the Ningaloo Reef are perfect for a Discover Scuba Dive. Look under ledges that provide plenty of places to search for shrimps, nudibranchs, Moray eels, juvenile angelfish and other timid creatures that are hiding. In mid-water and against the reefs look for friendly potato cod, large rankin cod, turtles, nurse sharks, anemones, clams and 100's of darting, colourful reef fish. Late in the year, manta rays grace several of our dive sites, too.

Keep your eyes open during the 75 minute trip across to the Islands for ospreys, shearwaters, turtles, manta rays, dolphins, and during their migration, humpback whales.

We have a wide range of dive sites with a maximum depth of 20m, with the top of the reef at 4 to 6m deep and usually only gentle currents. The dive sites around the Outer Reef or Muiron Islands are suitable for level 2 snorkelers (over Six years of age) and divers. Swim-throughs and ledges provide plenty of places to search for shrimps, nudibranchs, eels, juvenile angelfish and other timid creatures. Advance bookings are essential for Discover Scuba Diving.  This includes the use of all the necessary equipment air fills, transfers from your in-town Exmouth accommodation and 2 boat dives.  We require a minimum of two participants to conduct our DSD program; in the unlikely event that we do not have a second person by 4:30pm the day before your scheduled date you will have two options: 1 – a full refund or 2 – you can pay an additional fee and have a private one-on-one session.  

CERTIFIED DIVERS We will need to view your Scuba Certification on the morning of the tour on pickup as you enter the Bus.

* Certified Divers must have a logged dive within the past 12 months to participate on our diving tours. If you do not have a recent dive, you'll need to complete a *Pool refresher with us before heading out on the ocean dives, or engage a private guide Booked in advance at an additional charge, for an 'On boat' *refresher 

* POOL Refresher sessions prior to the tour date, are a simple review of basic dive planning, equipment, theory and dive skills. These sessions usually take 1.5-3 hours and include time in the pool, so you will need to wear your bathers and bring a towel. We schedule our refreshers on demand at additional charges.

A $100 deposit per person holds your booking with full payment due a minimum of 14 days prior to your tour.

Discover SCUBA Diving

Surrounded by an abundance of coral gardens, rocky ledges and intriguing dive sites, the Muiron Islands are located about 20nm north east of Exmouth. Keep your eyes open during the  trip across to the Islands for ospreys, shearwaters, turtles, manta rays, dolphins, seasnakes, and during their migration, humpback whales.

We have a wide range of dive sites with a perfect depth of 12m and usually only gentle currents, the dive sites around the Muiron Islands are suitable for for a great Discover Scuba Dive. Look under ledges that provide plenty of places to search for shrimps, nudibranchs, eels, juvenile angelfish and other timid creatures to hide. In mid-water and against the reefs look for friendly potato cod, large rankin cod, turtles, nurse sharks, soft coral gardens, anemones, clams and 100's of darting, colourful reef fish. Late in the year, manta rays grace several of our dive sites, too.

Discover SCUBA Diving

Our Discover SCUBA Diving Experience is perfect for those who do not have time to complete an entire PADI Open Water Course and for those who just wish to have a taste of diving.  The Discover Scuba Diving experience with us will include discussing some basic dive theory with your instructor, introduction to dive equipment and two boat dives. We will visit 2 different sites, the same dive sites that our certified divers enjoy so you'll know you are getting the best the Ningaloo Reef has to offer.

The D.S.D. course is suitable for everyone from 14 years old; those under 18 will need the written approval of a parent/guardian. You do need to have basic swimming ability.  

Diving medicals are not required to participate unless you have an indicator such as (but not limited to) asthma. A Padi DSD online Form will need to be completed at time of booking.

Our PADI Advanced Open Water Course is a two day course and includes five dives from one of our vessels on the Ningaloo Reef and we can begin any day. 

For the Advanced Course, you will do Deep and Navigation plus three electives.  Electives you can choose may include some of the following: Underwater Photography, Underwater Naturalist, Boat Diver, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Search & Recovery or Fish ID. 

We need a minimum of two students to conduct the course (some extra fees may apply). If it is just you we can register you in our file as a person who is interested and try to find another person to do the course with you. Or you my chose to pay extra for a 1 on 1 course

We include the use of mask, snorkel, fins, wetsuit, BCD, regulator, tanks, weights, all of your tank fills, complimentary pick up and drop off to your in-town Exmouth accommodation and your certification fees.  Also the PADI Adventures in
Diving Manual is included and is yours to keep. Each student for our Advanced Course must have the following: Open Water or equivalent certification card, a log book, a timing device and a logged dive from within the past 12 months. 
If you do not have a current dive history, you will need to do one of our Refresher sessions before your course. Depending on which electives you choose you might need to bring some specialty items such as a slate for writing underwater
or a camera for the photography elective ( sometimes we can organise camera hire). Just check when booking what extra items you might need.

If you haven't had a dive from within the past 12 months, you will need to complete a refresher with us before commencing the course.  Refresher sessions are a simple review of basic dive planning, equipment, theory and dive skills.  These sessions usually take around1.5-3 hours and include time in the pool, so you will need to wear your bathers and bring a towel.  We schedule our refreshers daily and advanced bookings are required.

You do not need to have a diving medical for the Advanced Course but you must answer our medical questionaire.  If you do have answered Yes to any questions, you may need to arrange a diving medical and they can be hard to get in Exmouth, so we recommend having a look through the attached medical questionnaire and getting any necessary medicals done before arrival.  We cannot refund course fees if you cannot get a medical and need one.

Learn to Dive with us here at Exmouth Dive Centre with our 3 day PADI Open Water Course and obtain a qualification that allows you to dive anywhere in the world! 

Prior to this 3 day course students must complete dive theory using the PADI eLearning portal, accessed using link we email to you. On Day One of your course your instructor will test your understanding of the dive theory, teach you all about dive equipment and help you to learn and master the necessary skills in the controlled space of the swimming pool. On Days 2 & 3 of your course, you will complete four open water ocean dives - all of the ocean dives will be usually from our comfortable and spacious dive vessel. This means that not only will you gain the skills that you need to dive safely and enjoyably, but you will get to visit some spectacular Ningaloo dive sites and see amazing sea creatures from your very first ocean training dive!  We provide lots of individual attention so that by the time you are ready for the ocean dives you will be able to concentrate on enjoying yourself... our instructors are extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and fun!!!

A PADI Link will be sent to you for all of your online homework Theory.

If you have completed your dive theory and pool session elsewhere, please talk to us about the Referral option (You must also bring your referral paperwork signed by your previous instructor, and the certifying PIC).

Please note that your compulsory eLearning will take around 5 - 8 hours to complete and includes knowledge reviews and a final Exam. Your eLearning doesn't have to be completed all in one go- the PADI Portal will save your progress, allowing you to complete each online chapter and knowledge review at your own pace, and in your own language. The PADI eLearning experience is interactive and streamlined, allowing you to begin or complete your theory prior to arrival in Exmouth, saving you valuable holiday time to explore the Ningaloo Coast. 

We need a minimum of two people to run our Open Water Courses (some extra Fees may apply) so please contact us at the store on 9949 1201 if you are travelling by yourself. If you have some flexibility in dates, we may be able to line up another person to do the course with you, or for an additional fee we can offer a Private Open Water Course, allowing you individualised instructor attention for the dates of your choosing (subject to minimum numbers on our dive vessel).

Please contact us so we can discuss the PADI medical questions with you. If you answer yes to any of the questions you must see a Doctor for a diving medical certificate done to Australian Standard 4005.1 stating that you are fit to dive prior to starting your course for your own safety. The closest medical centre to Exmouth that offers dive medicals is Carnarvon Medical Centre 08 9941 1169. If travelling via Perth, there is a medical centre right in the heart of Perth CBD- across from the bus port. Traveler’s Medical Centre, 1 Mill St.  Phone 08 9321 1977.  Just ring and make an appointment. Medicals are not available in Exmouth so you must get your medical completed to the correct standard before you arrive.  Refunds are not available if you are unable to obtain a medical. 

Please make sure you give yourself a bit of flexibility during your visit! While we love mother nature, sometimes the weather doesn't go to plan and we need an extra day to finish off your course. :)

We have a wide range of sites with a the top of the reef at depths between 4 to 6m and usually only gentle currents, the  sites around the Muiron Islands or outer Reef are suitable for level 2 of snorkelers and also scuba divers. Corals and ledges provide plenty of places to look for shrimps, nudibranchs, moray eels, juvenile angelfish and other timid creatures. Please Note - This Is an Exclusive Snorkel Only Tour. Snorkelling is in open ocean on coral atolls rising from various depths and reaching within  2 to 6M from the surface. In some areas the entry from the boat will be in 12m deep water and will require a snorkel over to the shallower areas. The surface conditions can be choppy at times. Level 2 snorkelling
